Obituary of G. Kenneth Miller
MILLER, G. Kenneth, age 89, of Richmond died quietly November 12th. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Owen Miller, and his brothers and sisters, Alvie Miller, Reba Miller Burger, Raymond Miller and Patricia Miller Northern. He is survived by his sons, Kenneth Miller, Jr. of Richmond and Dennis Miller of Boulder, CO, grandsons, Al Miller of Huntington Beach, CA, and Ray Miller of Boulder, and daughter-in-law, Lori Miller of Boulder. In World War II, Captain Miller served in the Army Air Corps from Africa to Germany directing air combat operations with a forward air control (radar) unit. He developed the aircraft radar approach while in Italy. During the Korean War, he was called back into the Air Force to teach radar intercept in East Coast Defense and also to serve as JAG officer (military lawyer). As a member of the Richmond and Virginia Bars, Mr. Miller practiced law with May, Miller & Parsons for 40 years. He was a member of the Lions Club, Richmond Masonic Lodge, Barton Heights United Methodist and Trinity United Methodist Churches. He served on both church boards as member and as chairman. He was the Chancellor of the East Coast Conference of United Methodist Churches for 20 years. He was a founding member and first president of the Tuckahoe Little League where he coached and was instrumental in the league development for 30 years. He was a founding member of the Willow Oaks Country Club, Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys, Trial Advocates Association, and the West End Community Center. He served as head of the Henrico County Draft Board. The closed-casket viewing will be Wednesday, November 17 from 6-8 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 North Parham Road, Richmond, VA. The memorial service will be Thursday, November 18 at 1 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 903 Forest Avenue, Richmond, VA.
