Julie Caldwell, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend went home to be with the Lord early on the morning of April 17, 2024. Those she will meet in heaven are her brother, baby Charles F. Bergquist, Jr., who died soon after birth; her mother, Edith Bergquist; her father, Charles Bergquist; and her sister, Ruthann Geis. Julie battled several years of dementia before passing.
Julie is survived by her sister, Dawn Bergquist; her husband, Harvey Caldwell of what would have been 65 years of marriage on May 3rd; and her three children Chris Caldwell/(Carolyn Caldwell), Dan Caldwell/(Betty Hundley), and Joy Felts/(Michael Felts); her grandchildren, Kory Caldwell/(Sarah Hykes), Chris Felts, and Ashley Felts/(Keegan Alvis) and great grandchild, Nevaeh Caldwell.
Julie was born and grew up in Ohio. After marrying Harvey and having Chris and Dan, Harvey's work moved them to Cape Charles, Virginia, a very small town on the eastern shore. It is here that they had Joy and resided until 1979 when Harvey's work once again moved them to New Kent, Virginia, where Julie remained.
Julie loved to sew and do crafts, garden, bird watch, and cook for her family. Her greatest joys were her family time and the many dogs she had in her life. Her husband, Harvey who also has dementia, loved and worshiped her as much as any human could love another. God has protected his soul from grief and unfortunately, dementia has fogged his memory of his true love and his family memories.
A Celebration of Life for Julie will take place on April 27, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Nelsen's Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA. Please keep the family in your prayers.
