Erik N. Oppermann, 45, passed away peacefully at his home in Highland Springs, VA on December 15, 2014. A Memorial Service will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. Richmond, VA on Tuesday, December 23rd from 5:30-7:30pm. Erik was born on March 7, 1969 in Pittsfield, MA. A graduate of New Kent High School, Erik was a volunteer firefighter for NKFD and a dispatcher for the New Kent Sherriff’s Department. Erik was also a volunteer firefighter for Charles City County, VA where he previously resided. Erik had a passion for helping others, most recently at Kroger Grocery Store where his spirit brightened up his co-workers and customers alike. Erik was a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox and an avid music lover. Erik is preceded in death by his wife, Reina Gragasin Oppermann. Erik is survived by his beautiful 3 year old son, Thomas Alexander Oppermann and their beloved dog Abby; his mother and step-father, Lynda and Tom Blair of New Kent, VA; his father, Norman V. Oppermann III of North Carolina; his aunt, Christine St. Clare of Massachusetts; and his sister, Gretchen Miller and her husband, William Miller and their children Kyra and Lacy Miller of Varina, VA.
