Ella Haney Moore

Moore, Ella Haney “Sue”, age 79 of Mechanicsville, gained her angel wings on January 21, 2022. She was born in Wise County Virginia, and grew up in Blacksburg which she always considered to be her home. She graduated from Blacksburg High School, and after moving to Richmond, worked for the Commonwealth of Virginia in the department of taxation. She left after a few years to take care of her family full time. She enjoyed gardening, including mastering the art of growing the perfect Hanover tomato, and working on various home projects. She enjoyed cooking and sharing new recipes, and antiquing. She was an excellent mother and exercised selfless, unconditional love. She is survived by her spouse, Albert Bennett Moore, daughters, Deborah Moore and Dianne Alexander, sister Mary Haney Alls, sister in law Linda Haney, her beloved nieces and nephews, and other dear family members and friends. The family will be receiving friends on Friday January 28 from 5-8pm at Woody funeral home at 1771 Parham road. The interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the American Cancer Society.
