Slaughter, Earl Hugh "Pete", 91, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord on November 19, 2015. Mr. Slaughter was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 36 years, Irene Slaughter; parents, William Thomas and Rachel Knight Slaughter; brothers, Tommy and Stuart Slaughter; and his sister, Estelle Baughan. Mr. Slaughter is survived by his devoted daughter, Doris Hodges and her husband, David; his loving son, Steven Slaughter and his wife, Anita of Goodyear, Ariz.; sister, Pat Conti; grandchildren, Jennifer Bromage and Robert Slaughter of Warwick, R.I., Joshua Hodges and Ryan Hodges; five great-grandchildren, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Slaughter served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Thurston and U.S.S. Winslow. He was a long-standing member of the Thomas N. Davis Masonic Lodge #351. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 27, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at the Masonic Home of Virginia, 4101 Nine Mile Rd., at 11 a.m. on November 28. Interment will take place at Bethany Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Charles City, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Masonic Home of Virginia, 4104 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, Va. 23233, Carlisle Avenue Baptist Church, 2010 Carlisle Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231 or Bethany Memorial Association, 3812 Seminary Ave. Richmond, Va. 23227.
