IN THE CARE OF
Nelsen Funeral Home & Crematory
Dorothy Meginley Robinson, 88, of Mechanicsville peacefully went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 7, 2014. She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Frank Norman Robinson, her sister, Margaret Bland and her brother, Robert Meginley.
Dorothy was born in Norfolk to Mattie and Howard Henley Meginley. She has many fond memories of the Masonic Home of Virginia where she was raised from age 9. She retired in 1985 from her position as an Executive Secretary for the Professional Picture Frames Association. As a member of Fairmont Christian Church, she was very active in the older active adult community. For pleasure, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends at her bay house in Mathews, Virginia, eating crabs and fishing, and also cooking, traveling, and working crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her brother, Howard Meginley. She was a loving mother to her daughters, Norma Opel and Dottie Karnes. She adored her grandchildren, Jessica and Christopher Wells; Evan, Cate, and Chelsea Opel as well as her great-grandchildren, Sydney and Parker; Caden and Kayleigh; Savannah, Hailey, and Sawyer; and Madison.
Her family would like to thank her wonderful caregivers from Home Care Assistance, especially Esther, Jessie, Lisa, and Ellen, as well as the devoted and caring hospice nurses at MediHome Health for their loving and compassionate care.
A memorial service to honor Dorothy’s life will be held at Nelsen’s Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA 23231 on Saturday, March 15 at 3:00 p.m. A gathering of family and friends will take place immediately following.
Donations may be made in Dorothy’s name to the Masonic Home of Virginia, 4101 Nine Mile Road, Richmond, VA 23223. Arrangements under the direction of Nelsen Funeral Home & Crematory, Richmond, VA.
