SATTERWHITE, Claude “Hank” Anderson Jr., 82, of Varina, was called home by his Personal and ‘Amazing’ Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 11, 2014. Claude is preceded in death by his father, Claude Anderson Satterwhite Sr.; mother, Clarice Middlebrook Satterwhite; and wife, Corine Satterwhite. He is survived by his son, Steve Anderson Satterwhite and daughter in law Kamron; grandchildren, Emily and Mason Satterwhite; sisters, Margaret S. Woods, Patsy S. Benner, Frances S. Allen; and many other family members and friends. Hank retired from Richmond Motor Company, where he worked in quality control. Hank was an award winning banjo picker; he started playing the banjo at the age of 5. He won many state and national banjo titles and played with many well-known bands such as, Uncle Leroy and the Pike County Partners, George Wynn, and Johnny Ladd and The Bluegrass Stompers, and many other well-known artists. He was recognized and honored in 2013 at the VA Folk Music Association Hall of Fame Event. Hank was proud about his acting role in the movie "Lassie". The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 from 12-2 pm, with a Chapel Service following at 2pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. Richmond, VA 23231.
