SGM Charles William "Bill" Gill Sr.of Richmond, Va., passed away December 27, 2015. He was a retired veteran of the United States Army, Virginia Army National Guard and Virginia State Police. He was born in Emporia, Va. and was preceded in death by his parents, William C. and Lucy Mae Gill; and Joyce’s parents, John Lewis and Rosalie Clary. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Clary; daughter, Sandra; granddaughter, Katelyn (friend, Jimmy); son, Billy Gill (Sheila); and grandson, Will. He is also survived by his sister, Jane Price (Mike); sister-in-law, Pat Short; brothers-in-law, Donald Clary (Judith) and John Drew Clary (Kathy). He was affectionately known as “Uncle Bill” to numerous nieces and nephews. A special thanks to his caregiver, Teresa Yates.
His remains rest at the Woody Funeral Home, Parham Chapel, 1771 N. Parham Rd., where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (today). Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ridge Baptist Church, led by family friend and pastor, Reverend Alan Ray.
