Cecil William Garnett

Garnett, Cecil W., 90, of Richmond, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nannie T. Garnett; his parents; seven brothers; and four sisters. Cecil served in the US Navy during WWII and was a retired Machine Operator from Phillip Morris. He liked fishing, hunting, and Nascar. Mr. Garnett is survived by his brother, Douglas Garnett; sister-in-law, Dorothy S. Garnett; niece, Judy Garnett; nephews, Ronnie and Butch “Stuart Jr.” Garnett; and several great and great-great nephews and nieces. The family wishes to thank the staff at Sitter and Barfoot Veterans Care Center for all the care and support given to Mr. Garnett over the years. A special thank you to Lou Addo, she brightened Uncle Slim’s days, and for that we will always be grateful. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 16 from 4-7:30 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231; where a funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, December 17 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sitter and Barfoot Veterans Care Center, 1601 Broad Rock Blvd., Richmond, VA 23224.
