Betty is reunited with William (Bill), her loving husband of 52 years. She is survived by her children, Larry (Kay), Michael (Linda), Melanie (Tina) and Margaret (Steve). She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Chastity, Amy (Barrett), Melissa, Katelin (Tom) and Brad; as well as five great-grandchildren and two great-greatgrandchildren.
A proud native of Amelia County, Betty is predeceased by her parents, Gordon and Margaret Tilman. Betty can be best described as compassionate, loving, talented, understanding and a selfless Christian. At 12 years of age she began one of many church roles over the course of her life when she became the pianist at Amelia Baptist Church and would continue to play at Montrose - Carlisle Ave. Baptist for over 50 years. Betty attended Madison College for one year before pursuing her passion for nursing and graduating from Grace Hospital nursing school.
Betty loved her family and the reunions that brought them together. Her extended family included neighbors, church members, William’s softball buddies and her children’s friends. Special family members include Beth, Deborah, Terry and Leslie who provided loving care for her during her illness. We love you all. Muma set high standards for us and how we should live, by providing endless examples of love and understanding. Our hearts will mourn her loss, but we are comforted in knowing she lives an eternal life and is making beautiful music for the Lord.
