Alice Irene Klein, 86, loving wife and devoted mother, claimed the promise of the resurrection on March 18th, 2015. Alice was born in Johnstown, Pa May 18, 1928, one of seven daughters of the late John and Jennie Fleck. She graduated from Conemaugh Township High in 1946. After high school Alice went to work for the Navy Dept in Washington, DC where she met and married Charles Robert Klein in 1948. He was in the Army Attache and he was the love of her life. They lived a full and exciting life with their two girls traveling and living in places like Africa, Rome, Teheran, India, and Germany. She adored her husband and when he passed in 1992, she moved to Richmond, Va. Alice was known to everyone that knew her as an "energizer bunny". Her age or physical challenges did not keep her down. As a born again Christian, she was strong in her faith in the Lord and a faithful servant member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church for many years. Alice was very independent, creative, vibrant, quick witted, resilient, exceptionally vivacious and generous. She often took people under her wing to help them through their own challenges. Alice loved to swim, shop, spend time with her daughters and found joy in life even in challenging times. She loved to have fun with her Red Hat Sisters wearing her bling. Alice was one of a kind and greatly loved. Her brightness will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Surviving are her two daughters and son in law, Sharon Klein of Richmond, VA, Paula and Richard Fyne of Stafford, VA, one sister Doris Phillips of Harrisonburg, VA, two sisters in law, Rosemary Klein of Hughsville, Pa, Jo Ann Klein of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 9155 Hungary Rd, Henrico, VA 23294 at 11 AM, Saturday March 28th. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in her memory. At the service there will be an opportunity for anyone who wishes to share a few words about Alice. At a much later date her ashes will join her husband's at Arlington National Cemetery with an Interment Service to be announced at a later date.
