Nixon, Albert Leon, The Candy Man, 85, of Henrico , VA. , passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 31, 2012. Albert was born in Milltown , NJ , May 11, 1927. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Parker Nixon, his second wife, Betty Joyce Nixon, granddaughter, Christy Anne Nixon and sister, Audrey Cowperthwait. He is survived by three sons, Gregory L. (Vicki), of Florida, Thomas E. W. (Sharon) and Michael L., both of Henrico, two sisters, Bessie Turner of Oregon, Yvonne Newkirk (Floyd), of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Brother-in-law, Charlie Cowperthwait of New Jersey. Grandchildren include Dave Mitchell, Paul, Ryan, Matthew, Amy Nixon and Jessica Standley. Great Grandchildren, Venson Vaughn, Landon, Sarah and Makaylah Nixon, seven nieces and nine nephews, all of whom will miss him very much. He served in the United States Navy while attending Duke University studying to be an Electronic Design Engineer. He retired from AMF Reece, owned and operated AN Systems where he patented many useful items such as remote Satellite Camera Control work he did for NASA. Albert attended Grove Avenue Baptist Church and was a member of the Sojourner’s Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Woody’s Funeral Home, Parham Chapel. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 6, 2012, 11:00 a.m., Grove Avenue Baptist Church , interment Westhampton Memorial Gardens . The Family will host a reception to celebrate Albert’s life, Grove Avenue Baptist Church , room 105 at the conclusion of all services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grove Avenue Baptist Church , designated to the Sojourner’s Sunday School Class.
