Mr. Thomas Charles Harris, age 82, of Clearlake, California passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022. He was the first of six children to be born to Thomas Charles Harris, Sr., and Ollie V. Harris, at 10 a.m. September 18, 1939, in Jonesville, TX.
In 1946, after a long train ride, nine-year-old Thomas was delivered to his mother in Richmond, CA, by his loving uncle Willie C. Evans, age 16, years old.
Thomas met Lord as a young man, at New Bethel Church of God In Christ in North Richmond, CA. There he met other young people, serving God, and was able as a young man to travel to youth conventions and convocations in Los Angeles, CA
Thomas received his education through the Richmond Unified School District. He also completed and graduated with a special studies degree at Contra Costa College in San Pablo, CA.
As a young man, Thomas kept busy working with his uncle, Willie C. building and repairing Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Thomas also spent many hours working with his father building and repairing houses in Richmond and Oakland, CA.
Thomas (nicknamed, Junior) became a member of the Carpenters Union in 1962 and had 50 years of membership invested.
Around 1980, the Lord spoke to Thomas and gave him an assignment that would change his life forever. God sent him to a ministry in San Francisco, CA, that would be instrumental in spreading the gospel internationally. He used his carpentry skills and as an ordained minister, he was able to share his testimony which witnessed and encouraged many. God, additionally instructed him to use his skills to assist in constructing three houses of worship. As a result, of his dedication and enthusiasm, the gospel was spread throughout parts of the United States, England, and Africa.
Thomas departed this life to his Eternal reward on Father’s Day, June 19, 2022. Family members that preceded him in death are his wife Stella, his parents, Thomas Harris, Sr., and Ollie V. Harris; a brother, Robert Harris, and his daughter, Denise. Harris.
Thomas leaves to celebrate his Homegoing; a son, Orrin L. Harris; two step-daughters, Deborah (Lester) Hearon and Kimberly (Jerome) Hicks; six grandchildren, Danita Manual, Ricky Brown, Antonia Brown, Simone Byrd, Reonni Byrd, and Zhatia Harris; six great-grandchildren, Jazzell Manual, Deaundre Brown, Ronald Williams, Dynasty Mitchell, Rennie Byrd, Jr., and Ricky ‘Bird’ Brown; one third-great grandchild, RaNiyah Brown; four siblings; Willie J. Harris, Mary Louise Harris Wilson, Barbara Craft, and Michael Harris; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews and many dear friends.
A celebration of life service for Mr. Thomas will be held Friday, July 15, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Gloryland Apostolic Church, 465 19th Street, Richmond, CA 94801. His final resting place will be at Rolling Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
