Erica Sherrill Bailey was born on January 18, 1971 in Berkeley, California, to proud parents Jacqueline L. Rountree and Lawrence Bailey their only child. She attended John Marshall Elementary School; King Estates Middle school and went on to graduate from Pinole Valley High. She continued her higher education at San Diego State University and graduated in 1997 from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. Erica worked at ORRICK for sixteen years as an Attorney Recruiter.
Things you may not have known about Erica is that she was once a model with the Barbizon School of Modeling and worked at Alta Bates hospital as a Phlebotomist.
Erica was a proud mother and a friend to many. She loved her family more than anything or anyone in the world. She was committed to making sure her kids had opportunities to do and obtain things she felt they needed and deserved. Erica instilled a sense of wisdom, courage, pride and self-esteem in each of them. She gave her love “unconditionally.”
She loved travelling with family and friends. She also loved shopping and knew how to put an outfit together. Erica had a smile that was contagious. She enjoyed taste testing at different restaurants. She loved to watch her son play basketball, and was surely his biggest fan. Her favorite singer was Sade, and if you were her friend, she loved you hard.
Erica departed this life on October 30, 2023 and was predeceased by her father Lawrence Bailey and stepfather, Ronald C. Yerger; her grandparents: John W. Smith II, Lille B. Smith, and Marion B. Mitchell; also many aunties, uncles, and cousins.
Erica leaves a legacy of memories to be cherished by her daughter, Ashley Tanuz and son, Arek Andrada. Her mother, Jacqueline Rountree and stepfather Rudy Rountree. Her beloved cat, Bowman; uncle & aunt, John & Tina Smith; her bonus sister, Petrina Pierce-Wilson; and a host of family and friends.
