Shirley was born to Kingsley and Ann Bloom in Saint Paul, Minnesota on July 21, 1934. Shirley and her sister Beverly were raised by her father in Saint Petersburg, Florida. When her father became ill at an early age, the family returned to Saint Paul. When he passed, she resided with the Stanislaw family. Shirley graduated from Saint Agnes Catholic School in 1953. She enjoyed attending reunions over the years and maintained close relationships with her high school friends. Shirley was a homemaker for thirty five years and later worked in sales. She retired from sales at Neiman Marcus Northpark.
Shirley was married to Robert Peterson. Together they created a loving family with seven children; Andrea, Craig, Scott, Glenn, Jay, Julie and Jenifer. She was a genuine servant of God, and a dedicated wife, mother and friend. Her passion was her family, pets and friends. She enjoyed gardening, the beach, homemaking, reading, crossword puzzles and current events. Her passing was preceded by her father, mother and sister. She is survived by all seven of her children, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and her dog Taz.
Shirley’s beautiful smile was a reflection of her soul and will be missed. We thank you for being our best friend and adoring mother. God bless you. Rest in peace knowing that you were loved by all.
A private viewing for family members was held on December 8th. A memorial celebration will be announced for family and friends in the months to come.
