Ruby May Hawthorne, 72, was born on July 13, 1950, to Clifton and Marie Hawthorne in Dallas, TX. She was the oldest of 10 kids and was well-loved by them all. Ruby attended school in Dallas before moving to California. As she moved through life she made friends and established many great connections. While in California she gave birth to four children, Myeshia, Hursey, Germaine, and William. She worked in a variety of places sharing her love of cooking in those roles. She joined Greater Bethany Community Church where she attended for many years. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, faithful to the Deborah Chapter #13 of Los Angeles, California (O.E.S. - P.H.R.A) for over 10 years.
In 2017 she made the decision to move back home to Texas. She was welcomed with open arms and a huge ‘welcome home’ party. She attended Friendship-West Baptist Church with her sister Diane and simply enjoyed her new life and location.
She is preceded in death by both parents, her sister Pauline, her brother Charles Ray, her nephew Bryan, and her great-granddaughter Jae’lia. Those left to cherish her memories are her children, her sisters: Doris Sherman, Diane Parker, JoAnn Divson Amoo, and Delois H. Osoro; 2 brothers: James and John Hawthorne; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Ruby was known to be very expressive but also very laid back. She loved to shop, go out to eat, and get manicures and pedicures with her family. Ruby was a giver and loved to cook for her family and friends. She’s a light that will forever shine in our thoughts and hearts.
