Ron was born in Chicago on July 7, 1957, to Bobby Horner and Jean Horner. After graduating from Thomas Kelly High School Ron joined the United States Air Force. He originally wanted to be a pilot but at 6’5” that wasn’t feasible. He was too tall to fit in the cockpit. Instead, he mastered in jet engines. He worked his way up to sergeant and he was so proud to have that title. After leaving the Air Force, Ron found his natural born talent for sales due to his bold and persistent nature. He spent his career as a regional sales manager for OMI Cranes.
Ron was such a unique and special man. His personality was infectious! He had a humor like no other. If you weren’t smiling Ron made sure to change that. Whether it be practical jokes or embarrassing you. His goal was to have you laughing by the time he left. There was never a dull moment when he was around.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Ron. All who knew Ron would describe him as a family man. He loved his family more than life itself. Ron was happiest when he was surrounded by his family. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren. Even if you didn’t know them Ron made you feel like you did.
The world lost a great man, an adored father, a wonderful brother, a reliable friend, and a phenomenal leader. All who knew Ron were blessed to have experienced his love. May he rest in peace!
