Lyla Ann Lobdell passed from this life on November 9th, 2022 in Dallas, Texas. Through the many years of chronic illness, she confronted them with grace, dignity, courage, and humor; all of which she embodied throughout her lifetime.
Lyla was born in Lafayette, Louisiana on November 14th, 1980. From the time she was four years old, her wish was to become a nurse. Lyla graduated from St. Thomas More Catholic High School, Lafayette, LA. She obtained her nursing degree from Barnes-Jewish College of Nursing St. Louis. The day she obtained her nursing degree was one of the happiest days of her life. She worked at Shriners Children's St. Louis, MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX and Bishop Gadsden in Charleston, S.C. where she was eager to care for her patients and did so with respect and kindness.
As a young girl, Lyla loved water skiing, track, tennis, writing, and rearranging her room. She loved spending time with her friends, listening to music and escaping on road trips. Being a god-mother brought her so much joy. Later in life she found pleasure in always finding just the right gift for everybody, encouraged others to "Keep on keeping on," and to wear anything other than white socks, along with reading, knitting and visiting the Dallas Arboretum.
When Lyla was no longer able to continue in nursing due to multiple chronic illnesses, she found new ways to be helpful. With the assistance of good friends, she founded her online site called Potsygirl. This was a resource for patients, family, and friends to exchange ideas and information with one another. She continued her work to raise awareness in one form or another until she could no longer continue, always trying to bring awareness to what she referred to as the invisible illnesses which affect so many people.
In addition to many family members, friends and her beloved pup Lily, Lyla leaves behind her father Conrad Lobdell, her mother Vivian Duhe, and her step-father John M. Duhe, Jr.
We would like to thank the many excellent members of the medical community who treated Lyla throughout the years.
It was Lyla's wish that no services be held. If you would like to make a donation in her honor, in lieu of flowers, please visit dysautonomiainternational.org or g-pact.org, the family would be grateful.
