Lucinda "Luci" J. Smith

Lucinda “Luci” Jane Smith, 59, of Richardson, Texas passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023. She was born on October 13, 1963 to the late Jimmie & Gladys (McGrew) Smith. Luci lived in Richardson her entire life and was proud to call it home. She was a 1982 graduate of J.J. Pearce High School. She went on to cosmetology school and was a hairdresser for many years.

When Luci became a mother, her world completely changed. More than anything, she loved being a mom. Luci’s greatest pride was her children and spending time with them brought her immense joy. She was a very caring, nurturing, and selfless person. She treated her kids’ friends as her own. She was nicknamed “Momma Luci”. She loved to cook and keep everyone fed. Any neighborhood kid who came over left with a full belly. Luci relished being home, surrounded by family and friends while enjoying great conversations with them. She was positive and happy and made sure that those around her were as well.

In addition to her parents, Luci was preceded in death by her son, Shane Mellen. She is survived by her children, Cody Mellen and granddaughter, Skylar Mellen, daughter, Danielle and her husband, Clint Smith and expected granddaughter Luci already fiercely loved and was excited to meet; sister, Brenda Smith of Eufaula Oklahoma; brother, Jim Smith II of Dallas, Texas; and former husband and friend, Fred Mellen.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at 1:00pm in Sparkman Funeral Home, Richardson, Texas. A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 30, 2023 at 2:00pm in Roosevelt Cemetery, Roosevelt, Oklahoma. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
