The family of Linda S. Galloway, age 70, is saddened to announce her passing. She died peacefully at home with family at her side on September 29, 2021 following a lengthy battle with cancer. Her final days
were lived with the same grace, strength, and sweetness that defined her life. Linda is survived by her best friend and husband of 32 years, Troy Galloway, daughter and son-in-law Paula McNeil Young and Mark Young of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Granddaughter and apple of her eye, Adalee McNeil of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, daughter and son-in-law Tanyau and Robert Brannen of Atlanta, Georgia, grandson Bryce Brannen and granddaughter Brooke Brannen of Atlanta, Georgia, and beloved doggies, Bonnie and Sadie. She is preceded in death by a brother, James Overbay of Dallas, Texas and a sister, Sandi Colwell of Tecumseh, Oklahoma.
Linda was born and raised in Chandler, Oklahoma. After finishing high school she moved to Dallas and began a decades long career in the health insurance industry, first with North American and later with Cigna, ultimately becoming a team leader where she was recognized for her leadership and fraud detection skills. Team members who lived up to her high standards held her in high regard. Even after her retirement some went to great lengths to regularly spend time with her. Those who did not rise to her expectations gave her opportunity to earn her nickname, “The Terminator.”
Linda enjoyed being in open spaces whether she was visiting the farm with Troy to fish for bass and catfish, spending weekend after weekend watching Paula play fast pitch softball, or the countless worldwide metal detecting adventures she shared with Troy. She was a longtime member of Lone Star Treasure Hunters Club where she served in several positions, was recognized for her excellent display cases, published an extensive newsletter for several years, and was awarded, “Club Member of the Year-1996”. She also enjoyed quilting and crochet and leaves a legacy of many finely crafted projects, most of which were created for, and given to specific loved ones. Her favorite pastime was spoiling her precious dogs, Sadie and Bonnie and Troy.
Celebration of her life and memory will be held at Sparkman Funeral Home, 1029 South Greenville Ave, Richardson, Texas 75081, on Tuesday, October 5th, with an informal gathering at 1:30 pm followed by memorial services commencing at 2:00 pm.
