Kenneth (Ken) Eugene Wagner was born on Nov. 7, 1922 in Norfolk, NE to Otto M. Wagner and Clara H. (Lehmann) Wagner. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran church in Norfolk NE on 12/3/22 and 6/7/36 respectively.
Ken graduated from West Denver High School in August 1940. He served in the US Airforce as a crew member/gunner on a B-17 bomber during World War II, flying 35 combat missions over Germany, Austria, and northern Italy from 4/43 to 10/45. He earned a BS degree from the University of Denver in March of 1949. In 1950, he married Helen M. Rodekohr of Battle Creek, NE. They have two sons and a daughter.
During his career Ken worked as a social worker for the Denver Bureau of Public Welfare, then as a dealer representative for GMC truck while living in northern New Mexico, and finally as a Dallas area Real Estate broker. He retired from real estate at age 70 and continued to manage rental properties into his early 90’s. He was a Life Member of the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce, a past member of the Greater Dallas Board of Realtors, the Texas Real Estate Commission, and the National Association of Realtors. He was also VP of the International Good Neighbor Council of Dallas and an active member of Zion Lutheran church of Dallas for 60 years.
Ken is survived by his children’s mother, Helen Wagner of Santa Fe, NM, his son Allan Scott Wagner and daughter-in-law Donnette (Ostberg) Wagner of Santa Fe, NM, his son Kent Steven Wagner of Garland, TX, and daughter Patricia Lynn Lyon of Santa Fe, NM. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Gunnar A. Lyon of Santa Fe, NM and Kelly L. Lyon of Rockland, ME.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Lorraine V. Harrell, and son-in-law Mark A. Lyon.
