Kathryn Ann Hammons, 79, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully at the home of her son, Greg, on November 12, 2013. Kathryn was born on April 2, 1934 to K.K. Spooner and Edith Viora Frye Spooner in Houston, Texas. She attended Highland Park High School in Dallas, and then went on to attend the University of Texas at Austin where she was a spirited member of the Alpha Phi Sorority. Kathryn married the love of her life, Jim Hammons in 1955 in Dallas. She is survived by her five children: Jim Hammons and wife Dennette of Spokane, Washington, Greg Hammons and wife Cara of Dallas, Texas, Kathy Hammons of Dallas, Texas, Andy Hammons and wife Carol of Nashville, Tennessee, & Christine Hammons of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren: Jeremy, Wendy, Mark, Trevor, Jake, Alex, Jessica, Colt, Dakota, Caleb, Ryan, Daniel, & Cydney; great-grandchildren: Andrew & Bradley; her beloved niece: Avah White; and many other relatives and friends. She was a great cook and an avid baker, and had a pretty green thumb when it came to gardening and working in the yard. Kathryn was also a wonderful seamstress, and loved to play tennis. She enjoyed playing Bridge with the ladies in Huntsville, Alabama - where she lived most of her life. Kathryn's family truly was her world, and she will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Brazzel Funeral Home: 1001 S.
