Joseph DuVal West

J. DuVal West Jr. passed away on September 26, 2016 in Dallas, TX at home from complications associated with Lewy Body Dementia. He was preceded in death by his parents J. DuVal West, Sr. and Helen Hamlett West.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 42 years Barbara Elam West; sons, J. DuVal West III (fiancé Diann Overgaard) of Denton, TX; Michael West of Denton, TX; and Alan West (Sally) of The Woodlands, TX. He is also survived by his brother Robert H. West (Dianne) of Dallas; sister Aline West Corson of Dallas; Grandsons J. DuVal “Boomer” West IV of Denton; John Dakota “Kody” West of Denton; Lockhart West of Houston, and Calder West of The Woodlands, TX; and his sister-in-law Carolyn Barrett of McKinney.

DuVal attended Highland Park High School and SMU where he was a football manager and a two year letterman. He was a second generation mortgage banker, as well as, an apartment developer and real estate broker. He loved golfing and fishing, especially at his lakefront weekend retreat.

A graveside service will be held at Sparkman Hillcrest Memorial Park on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 1:00 PM.
