John Robert Johnson

John Robert Johnson, 68, of Dallas, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018. John, or “J.R.” as most people knew him, was born on January 1, 1950 in Edcouch, Texas to Genoveva Romero. John had an amazing, unconditional love for God and also a warrior’s spirit and was always seeking the positive in all situations. With his gentle smile and warm spirit he treated others with respect. He was highly intelligent and educated, holding a Ph.D. from UCLA. He had a passion for learning, especially of different religions, cultures and history. With his entrepreneurial drive, John started his own businesses in multiple trades. He spent the last years of his life truly focused on family. He loved to recite bible verses and enjoyed music of all languages. A loving person, he never hesitated to express his feelings of love to his family.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Genoveva Romero Ortega and son, Christian Johnson. John is survived by his wife, Elena Johnson; sons, Alessandrini Johnson and Gerard Johnson; daughters-in-law, Julie Johnson and Malessa Johnson; brothers, Edward Johnson and wife Becky and children, Samuel Johnson and wife Cindy and children, Jose P. Ortega, Jr. and wife Mine and children, Daniel Ortega and wife Sylvia and sons, Saul Ortega and wife Kellye and daughters, Arturo Ortega and children; grandchildren, Briauna Marie, Caroline Rose, Grace Elizabeth, Christian Joseph, Sophia Rose, Alessandro Christian, and Greyson Brooks; as well as extended siblings, Jerry Johnson and wife Sandy, Donnie Johnson and wife Leahea; Linda Johnson Gerland and husband Eddie, Billy Johnson and wife Donna, Bobby Johnson and wife Donna, Mary Johnson Cowan and husband Fred, and Larry Johnson and wife Marilyn; and numerous nieces, nephews, close family and friends.

The family will be accepting guests during a visitation at Sparkman Funeral Home of Richardson on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 from 10:00am – 12:00pm. Funeral services will start promptly at 12:00pm with a reception immediately following at Sparkman Funeral Home. Services are officiated by Armando and Jessica Gutierrez.
