JVan Stockton was born in Crockett, Texas on February 8, 1926. He passed away on August 21, 2014. He is survived by his wife Gwyne Stockton; daughter Suzanne Vanover and son in law Ronald of Beaumont; son, Joel Stockton and his wife Karen of Omaha, Neb.; four grandchildren, Cara and husband Nick Lantrip, James Looney, Tanner Vanover, and Jared Stockton; great-granddaughter, Mia Lantrip, numerous nieces and nephews.
JVan attended Houston public schools and the U of H. He was employed by Southern Pacific Transportation Co. and retired in 1988 as sales manager after serving 46 years. He also served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was awarded several medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal for Air/Sea rescue service in the Pacific.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 26, at 10:30am at Sparkman Richardson Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at 1pm following the service. The United States Navy will be performing military honors.
