Numbers 6:24-27

Ernestine Garcia went home to the Lord on October 25, 2019 at the age of 98. Her last wish was to be buried in El Paso, Texas next to her husband, Steve Garcia at Fort Bliss Cemetary. She lived in Dallas, Texas the last six years where her daughter, Sylvia and son-in-law, Bob Polhamus, reside. Her two granddaughters, Eryn and husband, David Davila, and Kristen and husband, Aaron Large, also reside in the Dallas area. Four great grandchildren Sophia, Eve, Lucas and Riley visited often and affectionately called her Gigi. Other grandchildren whom she loved and remembered often are Nathan Staab, Kenny Rosebush, Patrick, Steven, and Andrew Ramirez.

Ernestine is preceded in death by her father and mother, Matias and Jesusita Cervantes; husband, Steve Garcia; brothers, Matias, Ysidro, and Alfonso Cervantes; sisters, Guadalupe Drusina, and Beatrice DeLaCruz.

She is survived by her son, Steve Oscar Garcia and daughter, Irma (Art) Ramirez of El Paso, Texas; her daughters,Sylvia (Bob) Polhamus and Elva Hart of Dallas, Texas; her brother, Orlando Cervantes of Las Cruces, New Mexico; her sister, Jessica Diek of Los Angeles, California. She is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 S. Floyd Rd, Richardson, Texas 75080, on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. The El Paso memorial mass will be on Monday, November 25, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 400 West Sunset, El Paso, Texas, 79912. Burial at Fort Bliss Cemetery will follow the services.
