Donald was born on December 26, 1931, in Pearidge, Kentucky and passed away May 22, 2022. His parents were Melvin and Laura Bell Wells.
Donald was one of seven children. Donald graduated from Barret High School. He served in the U.S. Army where he was based out of Ft. Sill, Oklahoma and Stuttgart, Germany during the Korean War.
Donald earned his Bachelors of Science in Finance from the University of Kentucky. He married Josephine Gibbs of Owensboro, Kentucky on June 12, 1954. They were married for 55 years prior to her passing in 2009.
Donald had a career in finance and worked for various companies in Rhode Island, Florida, Missouri, and in Dallas, TX. He worked for Mult-Amp Corporation for 25 years as their CFO, retiring in 1993. Donald was an active member of Financial Executives International while employed. He was a member and Deacon at First Baptist Church of Richardson for 50 years.
In 2010, Donald married Mary Beth Plummer and lived in Euless and Dallas. They were married for 11 years until her passing in October of 2021.
Donald was a loyal and passionate fan of his alma mater, The University of Kentucky Wildcat basketball team. He enjoyed spending time with family, playing and watching golf, and traveling with his family and friends.
He is survived by daughters, Renetta Montgomery and husband, Mark, of Richardson, and Kathy Petre and husband, Gary, of Richardson; brother and sister, Darrell Wells of Kentucky and Sondra Moore of Nevada; grandchildren, Katherine Montgomery of Richardson, Klaire Dickey and husband, Jeb, of Germany and Marshall Petre and wife, Courtney, of McKinney; great-grandson, Landon Petre, of McKinney.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 26, 10 a.m., at First Baptist Church of Richardson and reception will follow. In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be given to Hawaiian Baptist Academy in Honolulu, Hawaii.
