Donald Fred McFarland, 89, of Richardson, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2020. He was born in Beaumont, Texas, to the late William and Aline (Bonnemason) McFarland. Don was a 1950 graduate of Highland Park High School in Dallas. He went on to proudly serve our country in the United States Air Force, where he met the love of his life, Mary Burry. Following his time in the service, Don earned his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from the University of Texas in Austin. Don retired from The Timken Company following 32 years, where he was the District Manager for Texas.
Don enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was truly a homebody and enjoyed watching TV. His dog, Molly, was truly “man’s best friend” as Don took advantage of every opportunity to play with and take walks with Molly. He was a kindhearted man that will be greatly missed by those who loved and knew him.
Don is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary McFarland; sons and daughters-in-law, Brian & Cindy McFarland of San Antonio and Neil & Tamara McFarland of Oak Point; four grandsons, Matthew, Joshua, Justin (Samantha), and Jason (Jennae); great-grandchildren, Easton, Kash, Presley, Oakley, Hayes, and Emery; and his beloved dog, Molly.
Services will be private for the family. Burial with military honors will be in the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
