Her faithfulness, steadfastness, and positive outlook were an inspiration to many. Debbie was born on September 6, 1959, to James Alton Jordan and Bonnie Sue Sanderson Jordan in Columbus, Ohio. Paternal grandparents were Clarence Lee Jordan and Addie Mae Walker Jordan; maternal grandparents were Harold Lee Sanderson and Mildred Earlene Huddleston Sanderson.
Debbie spent her youth in Ripley, MS. She attended Mississippi State University before graduating from Memphis State University. At Mississippi State, Debbie began dating Terry McCoy whom she married in 1980. After marriage, they moved to Memphis, TN before settling in Dallas, TX.
Debbie stated that her earliest ambition was to be like her maternal grandmother. And she was. Debbie became a homemaker with the birth of Emily in November 1982. She was a doting mother to Emily, Jessica, and Valerie - serving as room mother, party host, refreshment lady, and field trip driver - she could have been mistaken as a school employee.
Deborah wanted to be remembered as a Christian and servant. She was a life example for many.
Although Debbie was known by many names, none were dearer than Dede. She was grandmother to 8. Debbie was also guardian to the oldest grandchild, Justin, for the past 6 years. There was no brighter smile than Dede’s when holding a grandchild for the first time.
She was a person of many interests. Debbie loved to read and listen to books and read her Bible daily. She loved to scrapbook and left wonderful family memories. Debbie also focused on fitness whether it be aerobics, playing tennis with the Brookhaven ladies, or yoga which she enjoyed until her last few months. But no activity brought her more joy than keeping her grandchildren.
Deborah was preceded in death by her father and all her grandparents.
She is survived by her husband, Terry of Dallas, TX, and daughters Emily Holmes (Melissa) of Coppell, TX, Jessica Marshall (Dustin) of Coppell, TX, and Valerie Klein (Daniel) of Carrollton, TX. She also leaves her mother Bonnie Jordan of Ripley, MS; 8 grandchildren Justin, Stetson, and Savannah Jordan McCoy; Hannah Doty, Crosby, and Sloane Marshall; and Sadie and Dakota Klein; one sister Lori Jordan Cagle (Robert) of Ripley, MS and one sister-in-law Melba McCoy Morgan (Randy) of Tupelo, MS.
She was a faithful member of Prestoncrest Church of Christ where a memorial will be held on May 20, 2023, at 4 pm. A private interment will be in Sparkman Hillcrest Cemetery in Dallas, TX. Memorials may be made to Christian Works for Children or the MD Anderson Cancer Center.
