 I am so sorry to hear of David's passing.  We were friends and had met while working at SMG before the Covid craziness had started.
I am so sorry to hear of his passing.
My condolences to his family and friends.  Though I had not known him that long he will be missed.  A good man gone too soon. 

I met David at our haunting ground, the Mucky Duck, in Addison Circle. We had so many conversations about his work(which he absolutely loved) and about movies as well. Whenever I walked in and sat next to him we always greeted each other with a fist bump. I will sorely miss those conversations and just our friendly banter. I hope his loved ones know we loved this really great guy as well. I will always remember David with his laptop and his headphones and our talks. 

Energy lasts forever. You can't destroy it or create it. Energy that was here from the beginning of time is the same Energy that gave us this very good man in David Dukes. I will miss you bud.

David was an active member of our ham radio club and participated in many of our events.  He was always helpful and willing to mentor others that were having issues with projects or skills and gracious with giving of his time to lend a hand.  He also was interested in learning new phases of our shared hobby and then lead others down that path even when they were just slightly behind where he was.  David will be sorely missed.

David was always a kind and caring cousin to me. I admired his zest for life, the enthusiasm he put into his hobbies and interests, and his desire to help others. He was an easy person to be around, ready with a smile, a joke, and interesting conversation. The world was better for having him in it. ~Nina

David was a great uncle to Dylan and Brendan. He selflessly gave Dylan his first car a few years ago, and was happy to do so! Dylan still drives that Honda Fit. Both of the boys think very highly of David and his cool outdoor interests. I always appreciated and loved his witty sense of humor and enthusiasm for his hobbies. We will miss him a lot and are grateful for the memories we share with him. 

David and I went up to Arkansas and did some fly fishing on the Little Missouri River and tent camped at Crater of Diamonds State Park. We had some much fun catching trout and just hanging out. We loved talking fishing, family and guy stuff. I will miss his friendship, his kindness, just being silly together and a fishing partner. I will always cherish the time we had together!

The year 1976, was eventful for or family. We moved to Mesquite, Tx near Dallas and I began working at Texas Instruments.  In December, some friends from work had gotten tickets to the Dallas Cowboys game with Los Angeles in Texas Stadium. David was five years old and I decided to take him along.
There was excitement from fans on the bus to the game with the anticipation of watching the Cowboys play the Rams in this Divisional playoff. This was all new and exciting to David and he caught the attention of fans with his Go Cowboys banner nailed to a  piece of wood. 
The game didn't go well for our Cowboys on that day. They were losing  late in the forth quarter when fans began heading for the exits.
My friends and I also began working our way back to the location where our buses would be parked. 
While carrying David, I fell behind our group and was frantically making way through the crowd when the buses began leaving.
As I ran to locate our bus, with my ticket in hand and bus number, David suddenly pointed and said "that's our bus".  "How did you know", I asked, as we made our way safely onboard. "It's our Driver", he said.

This is one of my favorite memories of times with David that I've retold over the years. 

I was so saddened to learn of David's passing.  I have many special memories of holidays spent at Bass Lodge with David and family.  There were countless numbers of card games played and I remember that when David was around there was always lots of joking and laughter.  I always enjoyed spending time with David and wished we could have had more opportunities.  The times David visited us in Fayetteville were always special.  I have a memory of him visiting when I had just gotten my drivers permit and he was brave enough to drive with me.  I was proud to be showing off my driving skills to my older cousin who I looked up to.  I admired his service in the navy.  

I know David will be deeply missed.  I send my heartfelt condolences to Dianne, Don, and Tim.

David was a Scouter who cared and served every chance ge could.   He lived the Scout Oath and Law.   So sorry to hear this.  We will be praying for his family and friends.  

I always admired David's curiosity and love of nature. He has a very gentle and caring spirit and cared deeply for others and animals, as well. 

When I first met him he was sent to me thinking I was the contact at the company when I was only on my second day.  It was a funny mistake and that is how I got to meet a very kind person.  Through out our contacts we talked about IT stuff and what was coming up.  He was a wealth of knowledge. We also talked about Star Wars and Star Trek and what the latest nerd culture items of the day.  When I went remote and I would come in to check into the office I always would visit his desk to see if he was there because he was always a fun person to talk to. Thanks for all the interesting conversations and for being so kind.

Posted on the Metrocrest Amateur Ham Radio Society website.    It is with extreme sadness we report the sudden passing of David Duke, KM5YQ, on Sunday, April 24. David was a very active member in our club and MARS sends our deepest condolences to David’s entire family.
  David especially enjoyed special events, CW, and building ham gear. Being a good Elmer, he eagerly shared his expertise as a presenter during ARRL’s Mentorfest on April 2. Just a week later, he was involved with Texas Parks On The Air with his home built Elecraft K2.
  Recently, David got his Volunteer Examiner credentials from W5YI. Just a week before his passing he shepherded two new hams into amateur radio. We could always count on David to help whenever and wherever he could. We will miss him.
  


Over the years, my son David and I shared many trips into the outdoors. David liked tying his own fly fishing lures. It was one of many interests he had.

So many great memories hiking and camping with David.

David had a real passion and enthusiasm for the outdoors which he was always eager to share with others. I remember Mimi and Papa talking about the camping trip they took to Paladora Canyon where he wandered off on his own and explored extensively while still fairly young, causing them some concern for his safety. What a spirit.
