Brian Harvey Shackelford

Brian Harvey Shackelford (aka “Shack”), 55, of Richland, Texas, passed away on August 30, 2023. Brian was born on June 17, 1968, to Gary and Sandra Shackelford. He graduated from R.L. Turner High School in 1986. He began his career as a professional firefighter/paramedic for the City of Richardson Fire Department in August 1994. After 25 years of faithful service, he retired in July 2019. Brian married Donna Thornberry on March 2, 1991. Together they had 2 children and 2 granddaughters.

He is survived by; his wife, Donna; daughter, Emily Shackelford; son, Garrett Shackelford and daughter-in-law Rachel Reneau Shackelford and their children Grace and Mary; parents Gary and Sandra Shackelford; brother Patrick Shackelford and sister in law, Stacy Shackelford; father in law, Donnie Thornberry; mother in law, Melba “Susie” Dall. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and fire department family.

Brian was a man who first loved the Lord, then his family with an unsurpassed passion. He was a protector, provider, and his family’s strong foundation. He was a servant at heart, which was very apparent in the way he lived and at his job. All who knew him would agree he was a light in this world. He will be missed but we know he is now rejoicing in Heaven. We will meet again in the presence of the Lord!

Visitation on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in Sparkman Richardson, 1029 S. Greenville Avenue, Richardson, Texas. Service on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at First Baptist Church of Richardson, 1001 N. Central Expressway, Richardson, Texas.
