Betty McIlveene, 92, of Richardson, Texas, was born in Beresford, South Dakota, on January 17, 1926 to Joel and Ruth Fahlberg and peacefully went home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on December 5, 2018 in Richardson. She lived a full and rich life, serving faithfully in church and mission ministry beside her husband. Her warmth, joy and unconditional love touched all those who knew her. Betty’s love for the Lord, family and friends were a cornerstone of her life.
Being raised on a family farm with her older brothers, she learned the value of family, church, hospitality and community. Betty graduated from Beresford High School in 1944, Iowa State University in 1948, and completed her dietetic internship at University of Michigan University Hospital in 1949. On August 12, 1952, Betty was married to Charles S. McIlveene, pastor. They enjoyed 50 years of ministry together. Betty provided a caring hand in helping others as she served alongside her husband’s ministry. She enjoyed baking, cooking, traveling the world, arts and crafts, garden club, music and loving others through personal visits, sending cards or prayer.
Betty had a wonderful career as a Registered Dietician at hospitals in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Fort Worth, Texas, Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Lufkin, Texas.
She was an active member of First Baptist Richardson.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, infant daughter Naomi Ruth, her baby sister Ruth Louise, and brother Wesley Fahlberg. She is survived by her children Carol Ann Lemmond & Mary Beth (Bruce) Moore of Richardson, and Scott (Delise) McIlveene of Lufkin; brother Addison Fahlberg of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren Matthew (Jessica) Lemmond, Patrick (Alyse) Lemmond, Lauren (Michael) Winter, Emily Moore, Rebecca (Hall) Henderson, Laura (Kolby) Buckner; great grandchildren Landry & Kylie Lemmond, Sofia Lemmond, Elise Winter, George & Charlie Henderson and many other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Lemmond, Patrick Lemmond, Michael Winter, Hall Henderson, and Kolby Buckner. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Fellowship Class of First Baptist Richardson.
Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, December 13, 4:30 – 7:00 pm at Sparkman Funeral Home Richardson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 14 at 10:00 am, First Baptist Richardson with Dr. Ellis Orozco and Gerald Ware officiating. A graveside service will be on Saturday, December 15 at 10:00 am, Garden of Memories Memorial Park in Lufkin, Texas with Rev. Mark A. Newton officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Sparkman Funeral Home, Richardson, Texas.
