Viola A. Stefonik, 89, of Rhinelander, died Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Aspirus Hospice House in Wausau. Vi was born November 22, 1921, in Rice Lake the daughter of Lawrence and Verna (Ledger) Brunette. She attended schools in Milwaukee. She married Donald M Stefonik on July 10, 1947 in Rhinelander. She enjoyed golf and family activities. She was a member of the Nativity of Our Lord Church and served as a dedicated volunteer, as a Eucharistic minister for homebound and nursing home residents and a member of a prayer group.
She is survived by her children, Phillip M. (Jeanne) Stefonik of Marshfield, Steven J. (Patricia) Stefonik of Appleton, JoAnne M. Bos of Rhinelander, Michael D. (Nancy) Stefonik of Mosinee, and Thomas L. (Sue) Stefonik of Wausau., eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, as well as two brothers William (Betty) Brunette of Rhinelander and Dennis Brunette and a sister-in-law Alveda Brunette of Rhinelander. She was preceded in death by her husband Don in 1992, her brother Wayne Brunette, and her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Nativity of Our Lord (St. Joseph’s Site) on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 12:00 P.M. with Father John Gerritts officiating. Interment will follow in St Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at the church on Thursday. Rhinelander’s Hildebrand Russ Funeral Home, 715-365-4343, is assisting the family with arrangements. A memorial has been established in Vi’s name and can be directed to Nativity of Our Lord Church.
