Loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle. Retired from The Boeing Company in 1996 after 34 years of service. Served in the Air Force (active duty and reserves) for 38 years, attaining the rank of Colonel prior to retiring in 1994. A world traveler, his myriad trips took him to every state of the union as well as over 50 countries on 6 different continents.
William was at the forefront of the home computer revolution, buying his first system in 1978 and proceeding to teach himself the fundamentals of DOS and BASIC before passing that knowledge on to others as an part time instructor at Boeing, as well as Renton Technical College. He was active for many years in the Southern Baptist church, The Boeing Space Museum as a docent, multiple writers and genealogy groups. Never one to be idle, Willam continued working after retirement at different times for The Pony Express, Fred Meyer, Sears, and UPS.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lucy Moberley Oaks, 4 sons, 1 daughter, 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 2 sisters and numerous nephews and nieces.
