Tom I will forever be grateful for your friendship and the wonderful times our family's spent together. I treasure the times you took me flying and gave me flight instruction. As a Flight Instructor today I often reflect back at your patients and gentleness you gave to me and do my best to pass this on to my students. I will always remember your wonderful laugh and invision you flying over the farm in the Cub "at or below 500" you would pull back the engine and shout out
 " hellooo down there"

Phil and I met Tom in 1959. He welcomed us transplanted southerners! He and Phil bought a J-3 cub together,secretely. Was I mad! I was his first sailplane passenger.Then we had many years of our families together. My sons loved Mr. Tom and so did I.

Ahhh Tom Cat, what a sad moment. Will miss our conversations, wine, and putting the world back in perspective over scoops of vanilla and coffee ice cream! 

And to the darling daughters, my how he loved and cherished you and your families.  What a beautiful photo gallery you have created inviting us to share in parts of his life not known by all. Depicting his childhood, family, and love of flight in its many forms. And the smile that was always engaging. 
Sadly, unable to attend the celebration of life, which will be filled with many delightful stories I am sure.  My heart sympathy to all the family.

Do not mourn his loss, but delight in the wonderful memories he left each member of his family and his many friends.

Shirley, you and all of your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Hold onto each other during this time and know we are here if you need us.

I know he had to be one hell of a person because he left us with two amazing women who have two amazing families.  That's the best kind of legacy you could leave.  Thank you Tom.

 Tom was (and will always be) my Godfather. He was one the oldest and dearest friends of my parents and we spent many a happy time visiting his family growing up.  Tom will always be to me one of the pioneers in private aviation. From the many aircraft he helped build, repair and fly- he was an aviator, mechanic and unparalleled historian having a personal story for almost any aircraft you could find on an airfield or in a museum. Tom was also an integral part to establishing Boeing's record of design excellence which helped establish the firm as the world's premier aerospace company. His contributions during his lifetime are so many and so admirable.
 It was my distinct pleasure to know him and I look forward to our catch up visit on the other side.

My heart goes out to you and your family, Shirley. My you find comfort in all that he meant to you.

Dearest Tom:  I so enjoyed our telephone conversations when you rang up to check your house cleaning dates.  We would talk about your airplane, or a trip to Arizona....even your socks!!  My special memory is when we went to dinner and spent all night eating, laughing and talking.  Hugs at the end of the night...I left feeling as if I had given you a gift....and you to me.  You will be missed so much.  Peace to you; and love and guidance may God  give to your family.....
