Born January 21, 1934 to Thadeus and Ruth (Tindall) Stevens in Queen Anne, Washington. He had two older siblings, Harold Cutts and Donna Cutts. His beloved sister Donna helped raise him who he deeply loved as a second mother.
He went to West Seattle High School and Washington State College, now Washington State University, with a Bachelors Degree in Hotel Administration. He patriotically and proudly served in the Air Force with the rank of Captain.
His many careers were varied. At times he was an award-winning insurance, used car, steel-toed shoe and book salesman, an installation technician, a manager and maintainer of arcade video games and a federal bank vault security guard. He was a General Manager of many restaurants, most notably for Godfather’s Pizza, and he launched and ran the Black Angus in Federal Way.
He was a Christian and a philanthropist, a very spiritual man of deep and consistent faith his whole life, donating everything he could to dozens of charities monthly over many decades. He was known for his giving and sensitive heart.
He is survived by four children; daughter Stephanie Mickelson, son Thad Stevens Junior and his partner May, son Matthew Stevens and his wife Corinne, as well as daughter Leanne Stevens and her partner Nick. He is also survived by is ex-wife and dear lifelong friend Deanna Stevens, his niece Cris Satterthwaite, nephews Ryan Wheelwright and Kristian Wheelwright and three granddaughters, Evelyn, Mirella and Aviva Stevens.
He was a proud lifelong Democrat. An avid collector of many things from rare coins and stamps to sports memorabilia and frogs. He had a passion for watching sports, a WSU Cougars, Mariners and Seahawks fan. Also an prolific reader, his favorite author was Tom Clancy.
He had a wonderful sarcastic sense of humor and was often silly and playful with his children and grandchildren. He loved to laugh and loved comedy. From Far Side comics to Mystery Science Theater. From Steve Martin to George Carlin. But mostly, he deeply loved his family and few close friends. And they love him back just as much. We will miss him forever.
