Ronald Dean McCormack of Renton peacefully passed away on July 3, 2014. He was 82 years old. Born February 26, 1932 in Wenatchee to Roy and Elizabeth McCormack, he graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1950, attended Wenatchee Junior College, and served in the U.S. Army for two years. Following his discharge from the Army, Ron enrolled in the University of Washington, graduating in 1958 with a BA in Business. He joined the Boeing Company later that year. In 1960 he married Sherian Klimek of Hoquiam. They moved to Kent, where they raised three children, Susan, Tracy and Barry and shared family camping trips, razor clam digging, and working in the yard together. The family moved to their current home in the Fairwood area in 1974. A two-year work assignment in Huntsville, Alabama gave Ron the opportunity to indulge a lifelong interest in American history and explore many parts of the southern states. After returning to Seattle, Ron retired from Boeing in November 1994, ending a 36-year career, primarily as a Contracts Manager on numerous Aerospace programs, including Lunar Orbiter, IUS and AWACS. Following retirement, Ron and Sheri enjoyed their travels to Reno and Hawaii, until 2009, when Sheri was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease and moved to Aegis Living of Kent. Ron devoted his last five years to Sheri’s care, visiting her daily and ensuring that she always had whatever she needed.
Ron is survived by his wife, Sherian, his daughters Susan Mitchell (Paul) and Tracy Dyson (Jay), grandchildren Allison Mitchell and Griffin Mitchell, sister Bernice Mangold (Bill), nephew David Mangold, niece Roberta Hathaway, uncle Roy Jourdan, Jr., and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Barry McCormack, in 1988. Ron’s family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Aegis Living of Kent, who have become our extended family in their caring of both Ron and Sheri.
