Presley Howard Richardson was born on October 21, 1934 in Greensville, Mississippi. He was the third of twelve children of the late Melvin and Jo Ethel Richardson. He accepted Jesus Christ at a young age at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Greenville, Mississippi. He graduated from Coleman High School in 1953 in Greenville, Mississippi. On October 18, 1955, he married the love of his life, Aslene Andrews. From this union, was born two beautiful daughters, Gwendelyn Jovette and Patrice Michelle Richardson.
Presley enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1977. He and his family traveled extensively all over the world from England, Taiwan and the Philippines during his tour of duties. Presley receive numerous awards and commendations during his enlistment. He retired from the United States Air Force with an honorable discharge and the rank of Master Sergeant in 1977 after serving 22 Years 9 months and 21 days.
Following his retirement from the US Air Force, Presley moved his family to Renton, Washington in May 1977. He joined the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Baptist Church under the spiritual leadership of the late Reverend Dr. Leon C. Jones where he was actively involved with the Usher Board. Presley started his second career with Renton Technical College, as the Facilities Manager. After spending 21 years with Renton Technical College, he officially retired on October 31, 1998.
He loved to spend time in Moses Lake and to go fishing with Aslene, family and friends. Presley loved music and you could catch him on the dance floor showing his moves. When people would ask how he was doing, you could always expect him to say “Better since I see you”.
Presley finished his race on earth and went home to be in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, July 1, 2019, who welcomed him into heaven and said: “Well done, my good and faithful servant…..”. Presley passed away at the age of eighty-four in Bellevue, Washington at Overlake Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years Aslene Richardson; brothers (deceased) Melvin C. Richardson (Clara-deceased), Mandalin Cornell Richardson, and LeAutry V. Richardson; sisters (deceased) D. Anita Clark, Veleria J. Brown (Kenneth-deceased), Gail E. Cooley (Jesse-deceased).
Presley is survived by his two daughters, Gwendelyn J. R. Tyson (Donald) and Patrice M. Richardson; one brother- Beverly J. Richardson (Carrie); four sisters-Doris R. Johnson (Mack-deceased), Mavis M. Corsey (Kenneth), Quilla L. Epps (Roy A.) and Evelyn J. Richardson-Kidd (Lamar); three grandchildren - Courtney White, Donald Tyson II (Torrance, CA) , and Sakara M. Tyson; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
