It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Marguerite Long, who left us on June 26, 2024, far too young at the age of 50. Marguerite was born on February 15, 1974, in Memphis, TN. She was the beautiful and loving daughter of Michael and Marelise Angelo.
In 1992, Marguerite serendipitously met Stephen Long, and a beautiful romance blossomed that spanned thirty-two years. Marguerite was not only a devoted wife and best friend but also a loving mother to Annelise and Lucky, who will forever cherish her memory. They were all by her side to bring her comfort in her final moments.
In 2018, Marguerite and Stephen relocated to Seattle, where she continued to enrich the lives of those around her with her warmth and generosity.
Marguerite graduated from Immaculate Conception High School and went on to Christian Brothers University, where she received her degree in business administration and management. She had a career in the retail industry, working at the University Club of Memphis, CVS, and Target, before becoming a stay-at-home mother. All of her work experiences held vivid, fond memories for Marguerite, and she always spoke highly of the bonds she made through her extended work families.
Beyond her professional career, Marguerite was a voracious reader and loved to bake. She enjoyed arts and crafts, family game nights (especially playing Uno), bird watching, musicals, giving gifts, altruism, and embarking on adventures and road trips with family. Marguerite was also a life-long, die-hard Memphis Tigers fan. Although limited and not an outdoorsy person, Marguerite would probably admit to enjoying the outdoor hikes and activities on which she shared with her husband and daughters.
Marguerite is survived by her loving husband, Stephen; her children, Annelise and Lucky; her mother, Marelise Angelo; her brother-in-law Michael Long and his wife Guadalupe, and their children Matthew, Jewel, Mason, and Ginger; her mother-in-law Sandra Mitchell and step-father Bill Godsey; her sister-in-law Becky Hatfield and her husband Claud, and their daughters Rachel, Jenny, and Regina; her cousins Lenzi Costa and Mary-Everett Woodward; extremely close/best friends Michael Fountain and Amanda Bozeman, whose friendships she treasured; and her recently reconnected birth relatives Jeanne Johnson, Laura Hoffman, Kathy Moore, and Diana Circle. Marguerite also had fur-babies that she absolutely adored and cherished, including two Corgis named Henry and Leah and two cats named Oliver and Chester.
Marguerite was preceded in death by her father, Michael Angelo, and her grandparents, Paul and Betty Gallina.
Marguerite's legacy of love and kindness will forever be remembered. She was the light of our lives, and the world grew dimmer with her passing. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew her and were fortunate to have their lives touched by her.
