Margaret B. Feaster, 87, of Renton, Washington passed away peacefully on November 19, 2021 after a short illness. She is survived by her children, Tom Feaster, Nancy F. Lowery, Amin, Amir and Dr. Ali Afrassiabi; Grandchildren, Logan, Ethan, Hannah and Abigail Feaster; In-laws, Leesa Feaster and Derric Lowery, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Margaret in death was her husband, Tom G. (“Jeff”) Feaster; Parents, John and Anna Figler Brown; Sister, Anne Marteny and Brothers, George, John, Robert, Paul and Martin Brown.
Margaret was born in Flemington, West Virginia on July 22, 1934. She graduated from Fairmont State College with a B.A. in Health and Physical Education in 1958 and married Jeff on August 28th of that year. The couple moved to Pittsburg, PA, where she began a teaching career. Tom’s career with Boeing briefly brought the couple to Renton in 1960, and then permanently again in 1970.
Margaret passionately immersed her creativity and time into the Renton community and into the lives and activities of her children, grandchildren, and all of the young people in her life. She was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of America and served as a troop leader and volunteer in Renton for over 50 years. Intensely interested in the history and preservation of Renton Margaret served in a variety of roles with the Renton History Museum for over 30 years. Continuing her commitment to leadership opportunities for young women, she sponsored any Girl Scout troop that wanted to visit the museum and actively participated in her local Chapter FP P.E.O. group. In addition to her volunteer activities, Margaret was keenly interested in plants and herbs and nurtured this interest through her long- time membership in the King County Herb Society. She never lost her love for West Virginia and visited often with her husband, especially in their retirement years. She diligently saved mementos of their travels around the United States and Canada for over 25 years. Of course, anyone who visited Margaret never left hungry!
A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery, 350 Monroe Ave NE, Renton, WA 98056. Visitation will be held on December 2, 2021 from 12:00-1:45 PM, followed by a graveside service from 2:00-2:30 PM. A reception will follow from 2:30-5:00 PM.
