June "June Bug" Hill was born on June 13, 1926 in Olympia, Washington to Stenna Olga and Glenn R. Bach. She was the sixth of seven siblings who survived to adulthood. At her death, she was the last surviving child. She passed away peacefully on June 2, 2021 in Renton with her daughter Kris by her side.
Her father Glenn was a veterinarian and a dairy farmer. His work took the family many places across the state: Olympia, Delphi, Tenino, Sunnyside, Yakima, Ellensburg and finally Tumwater (near Olympia.) June graduated from Olympia High School in 1944.
She attended college at Central in Ellensburg where she met her future husband, Edward "Bud" Hill. They were married on March 23, 1947. They Graduated the following year and were very proud to be the first married couple to graduate. Their marriage lasted 68 years until Bud's death in 2015. They earned their BAs in education and returned to Central together in the 1960s to complete their Master's Degrees.
Early in their marriage, Bud and June lived in Naches, Washington where their first daughter, Kathy Jo, was born. They soon moved to Easton, Washington for a few years until the arrival of their second daughter, Kristy June. They then moved the family to Clarkston, Washington followed by Lewiston, Idaho where daughter Bonny Sue was born. The family lived in Moscow Idaho, Ellensburg Washington, Moses Lake Washington, and finally Renton, Washington where they remained until their respective deaths.
While in Clarkston, June began her career as an elementary school teacher (she always said 5th grade was her favorite.) In Moscow, she taught PE. When they moved to Moses Lake, she returned to elementary teaching. After receiving her Master's, June became a school counselor. She began that part of her career at Chief Moses Junior High in Moses Lake. After moving to Renton in 1969, she was a counselor at Nelson, McKnight and Dimmitt middle schools. Most of her time was spent at Dimmitt until her retirement.
In retirement she and Bud owned and operated Jack Lloyed Tackle Company, but June always had time for her favorite hobby, sewing. Every time she bought a new sewing machine, she said she'd get rid of an old one... she never did unless one finally died.
June is survived by daughter Kathy (Hill) Koba and her husband Rick Koba; granddaughter Kalin (Koba) Armstrong and her husband Joel Armstrong: daughter Kristy Hill: daughter Bonny (Hill) Becker and her friend Deborah Dahlin; granddaughter Amanda "Ammy" (Becker) Dau and her husband Eric Dau; great -grandsons Oscar and Otis Dau: grandson Andrew Becker and his wife Betsy; great-granddaughters Bella and Eva and great- grandsons Aaron and Daniel Becker. She is also survived by her rescue Bichon Aberdeen "Abby" and her rescue cat LGC (Little Girl Cat.)
She is and always will be missed by all of us.
If you wish, remembrances in her name can be made to your local Humane Society, food bank, or covid relief fund.
