James Barei

Born in 1928. Jim lived his entire life in Renton except for military service at Ft. Lewis and education at Gonzaga University. He died at home 1/13/14. Jim owned and operated Barei’s Tavern for many years, then sold real estate.

He was preceded in death by his sister Louisa Schlotfeldt (Vancouver); survived by wife Judy, children Jim, Mike & Valentina, grandson Miles, sister Nancy Monahan, a niece, nephews & their children.

Barei’s Tavern was frequented by Longacres & Boeing employees and other friendly, fun people for over 35 yrs. Jim offered a helping hand to many people when most needed, was always a friend to be counted on, stood up for what was right regardless the odds, and never tolerated a bully.

Funeral mass will be at St. Anthony’s Church, Renton Mon. 1/20 at 11:00 am. Donations: St. Anthony’s food bank (314 S 4th St, Renton, WA 98057) or other charity.
