On October 30, 2022 surrounded by his loving family, Frank Sanders Seeley completed his more than four-year fight with Parkinson’s disease and passed peacefully into his next life. At 85 our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather valiantly completed his mortal journey.
Frank was born on June 6, 1937 at his parents’ home in Fairview Utah. His parents Orba Sanders Seeley and Frank J Seeley were so excited to welcome their first son into their growing family of three girls, Beth, Leah and Marilyn. Frank was excited later when his two brothers Garth and Dean arrived to complete their family,
Frank graduated from Montello High in 1955 after he left Ogden to live with his sister and brother in law Beth and Norm Sevy. He used to say that Norm introduced him to two of the loves of his life, hunting and fishing and saved him from going to jail.
After graduation Frank went to work for Kennecott Copper corporation in McGill Nevada. He was set up on a blind date with Dorothy Willis by their mutual best friends Gay and Pete Boundy and fell head over heels in love with her. They were married on November 11, 1955. Next week they would have celebrated their 67th anniversary.
After they married, they moved to Ely where they began their family. They lost their first son Douglas at only two days old. That was a difficult challenge to overcome for two young newlyweds. Two years later they welcomed their daughter Carla into the family, the next year their son Greg and three years later another son Mark came along to complete their family.
While in Ely Frank took a job with IML trucking company as a terminal manager. In 1967 he was promoted and moved his family to Fresno, California where they lived for 5 years. Then in 1972, he received a promotion to the Seattle Washington terminal and he moved his family to the Bellevue, Washington area. After deregulation the trucking industry changed dramatically and IML went out of business in 1984. Frank managed 3 other trucking companies before he decided to get out of the industry. He took a job as maintenance carpenter for King County Parks Department in 1990. Where he fulfilled a lifelong dream of getting paid for being a carpenter. He retired from the parks department in May 2002.
Frank and Dorothy then moved to Newcastle Washington, bought a fifth wheel and started traveling the United States. They eventually decided to spend their winter months in Desert Hot Springs where they loved the warmer weather and the natural hot springs. Frank spent many hours helping the residents of his mobile home park maintain their units. Most of it was on his own dime.
Frank’s number one passion was his family. Next to them he loved to hunt, fish and golf. Some of his favorite times were hunting deer and elk in Washington and Nevada or Fishing and golfing anywhere in the United States.
He was a gentle man and could always find the good in everyone. He was a beloved leader as he was always willing to work as hard as anyone on a job. His grandkids used to say that their grandpa worked circles around them and he was more than 40 years their senior.
Frank is survived by his wife Dorothy, his daughter Carla (David) Meine, his sons Greg (Margarita) Seeley, and Mark; his Sister Leah (Shirl) Okey and brother Larry Dean (Linda) Seeley; His brother in law Norm Sevy; His sister-in-law IMO Jean Arterburn, His many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Beth Sevy and Marilyn (Pete) Martinez, and his brother Garth Seeley and his son Douglas Duane Seeley.
