She was a Seattle native born on December 28, 1918. She was born in her parent’s home, delivered by a mid-wife, her god-mother and was the youngest of four children.
She graduated from Franklin High School in 1937 and married the love of her life, Byron, of 69 years in 1939 (missed 70 years by just two short weeks.) Mom and Dad had one child, Linda born in 1941. Mom lived the bulk of her life in South Seattle. In fact, both Mom and Linda attended and graduated the same grade school and high school.
Her life will always be remembered and celebrated, by family and those who knew her well, as a life dedicated to loving and caring for all family members. Mom was first and foremost a homemaker who enjoyed family gatherings and preparing sumptuous meals that were devoured by all. Everyone looked forward to her Italian dinners. During her earlier years she participated with joy in her neighborhood coffee “Klatches”, but only after all the chores were done, of course.
Mom was preceded in death by her husband Byron Glidden, her sisters and brother. She was the last to arrive and the last to leave of her siblings. She is survived by their daughter, Linda (Rik) Budd, three grandchildren Rod (Lisa), Rick (Roxanne), and Scott (Crystal); five great-grandchildren, Mike, Alyssa, Caylei, Bryonna and Ryan, and two great-great-grandchildren, Chad and Klhoe as well as other nieces and nephews.
We are choosing to honor Mom with a private family gathering filled with love, food, and family. All her favorite things.
