Larry Richard Goodman,79, of Shillington, PA entered eternal rest on Tuesday, May 18, 2021. Born March 5, 1942 in Reading, PA he was the beloved son to the late George W. and Thelma D. (Tobias) Goodman.
Larry attended Wyomissing Polytechnic Institute, where he studied machine shop theory and practice. As part of his studies at WPI, he served his apprenticeship and was later employed by Textile Machine Works, at the time one of the largest manufacturers of textile machinery in the world.
Larry was a skilled journeyman machinist for most of his life; working for Textile Machine Works for 11 years and retiring from Joma Machine Co., Inc. He was a member of a golf club called the Divot Diggers, ex-apprentice at Wyomissing Polytechnic Institute group and Victor Emmanuel II.
Larry was a devoted fan of the Phillies, Rolls-Royce Enthusiast and an avid golfer. He also enjoyed playing pocket billiards in his free time. Larry's quick wit, dry sense of humor, and generosity towards others will be sorely missed by all blessed enough to have known him.
Larry's spirit will be carried on by his sister Nancy Stine and her husband Forrest, of Mohnton, PA; 2 brothers Bruce Goodman and his wife Judith, of Reading, PA, M. Thomas Goodman and his wife Carol, of Shillington, PA, and sister-in-law Bette Goodman wife of the late Ronald "Sonny" Goodman, of Greenfields, PA. Larry also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews to cherish his memory.
In addition to his parents, Larry was greeted in heaven by his brother Ronald "Sonny" Goodman.
Family & friends will gather to celebrate Larry's life on Monday, May 24, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Auman's Inc., 390 W. Neversink Rd. Reiffton, PA 19606, followed by a memorial service at 7:00 PM, with Rev. Dr. Robert Aregood officiating.
