Irma (Schwingshandl) Squibb, 93, of Muhlenberg, passed away September 10, 2020, at Rittenhouse Village @ Muhlenberg where she was residing in Assisted Living. Irma was born in Vienna, Austria on October 31, 1926 and was the daughter of the late Rudolf Stefan Schwingshandl and Maria (Sisolak) Schwingshandl.
She came to the United States in 1948, from Vienna, Austria where she was an interpreter in the U.S. Army Headquarters, prior working as a Legal Aid to an Attorney in Vienna. She was also a translator for the Berkshire Corporation for 25 years and an Executive Secretary to Mr. Alfred Hemmerich, and Mr. Robert Laws of Gilbert Associates. After Retiring from Gilbert Associates, she went to work part time at the Wyomissing Foundation as a Secretary to the President and other officers, including Mr. Hemmerich, whom she had worked for at Gilbert. Irma was a wonderful person, kind and a heart of gold.
Irma is survived by her brother; Alfons Schwingshandl, and his wife Ilse, of Vienna, Austria, and her nephew, Manfred Schwingshandl, and his family also of Vienna, Austria. Irma also leaves behind many friends and neighbors, with whom she formed long relationships over the years, including Marijane Casantini, of Narvon, PA, whom she considered Irma as her second mom.
A viewing for Irma will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Aumans Inc., 390 W. Neversink Rd, Reiffton and the funeral service will commence at 11:00 AM. Graveside committal will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 391 W Neversink Rd, Reiffton.
