Born in Reading on March 15, 1928, Charlie was a son of the late Earl and Helen (Weil) Swartz. He was a member of Trinity UCC in Mt. Penn. Charlie was a US Naval veteran and served during WWII.
Charlie was employed with the Reading School District teaching small engine repair at Vo-Tech for 20 years. He was also employed with the State of Pennsylvania working out of RACC teaching and conducting motorcycle safety and licensing.
He enjoyed woodworking in his spare time. Charlie could fix almost anything, he was a hard worker.
In addition to Jeanie; Charlie is survived by a daughter, Deborah L. (Swartz) Showers and her husband, Donald of Claremont, FL; two sons, Michael C. Swartz and his wife, Kathleen of Muhlenberg and Jeffrey C. Swartz and his wife, Patricia of Muhlenberg; a stepson, Brad L. Edwards of Reading; two grandchildren, Tara and Nicole; three step grandchildren, Chad, Jared and Ashley; three great grandchildren, Weston, Dawson and Maitlyn and four step great grandchildren, Madeline, Ethan, Isabella and Landon.
Also surviving Charlie is his brother, Earl Swartz of Temple and a sister, Mary Lou (Swartz) Yeich and her husband, Ronald of Reading.
Services for Charlie will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2015 in Auman's Inc. Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home on Saturday from 11am until the time of service. Charlie will be laid to rest in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reading.
