Yvonne was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to parents John L. Howey and Elizabeth M. Howey. Mom was active all of her life, playing ball and hockey with her siblings growing up, speed skating and dancing in her youth, and in her later years, golfing, cross-country skiing and skating with her buddies: sister-in-law Ruth Robinson and friends Marg Mullan and Gloria Nichol. Dancing was a passion Yvonne had throughout her life, a passion she shared with her granddaughter Carly. Mom also loved to sing, she sang in a choir for a number of years with her friends.
Yvonne loved to putter in the garden and her yard, planting flowers each and every year. She enjoyed walking around the lake either by herself or with others. She also enjoyed the occasional Kokanee or rum on her patio. She was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary for 47 years. Mom’s sense of humor never left her, right up to the end of her life, an admirable trait for anyone.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband Gordon; her parents; and all of her siblings: brothers Jack and Bill and sisters Lorna and Maxine. She is survived by her children Judi, Don, and Mike (Bobbi); grandchildren Cori and Carly; great-grandchildren Kaeli, Branden, Brodie, and Amy; as well as a large extended family and many friends.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Qu’Appelle House and the Regina Lutheran Home for their compassionate care and respect for our mother.
No services will be held at this time, a Celebration and Interment of our mom’s ashes will be a family gathering on a later date.
