Walter (Wally) was born in Sheho, Saskatchewan to Polly and Bill Bezborotko and spent much of his childhood farming in the Yorkton area. Survived by his beloved wife Darlyne, Wally will also be lovingly remembered by his family and many friends. Rarely was Wally without a great big smile on his face. He worked for Weston Bakeries for many years and proudly drove his truck across Canada making deliveries for the bakery while also making friends from coast to coast. After retiring from Weston’s, Wally started Antique Towing and enjoyed working with the public as well as with the RCMP as their official towing partner. A proud father to Brian (Brenda), Randy, Darren (Trish) and Sheila (Darren Harris), Wally enjoyed spending time with all of his kids and especially his grandchildren; Melissa and Michelle, Alesha, Kelly, Lindsay and Chad, Faith and Kadie. Wally was also a proud stepdad to Michelle Wourms, Darren Mock, Stacey Mock and Cindi (Kevin Mapes) and grandfather to Jefferson, Chance, Boehn, Nathan, Reese and Hailey, Amanda, Caitlyn and Brandan and several great-grandchildren. An avid “outdoorsy guy” Wally loved puttering in the yard at Regina Beach, gardening, camping and barbecuing. His family will cherish many great memories of time spent in Wally and Darlyne’s yard, as well as at the campground, and watching Rider games, NHL and World Junior hockey. His upbeat personality, big laugh and generous hospitality will always be remembered. Wally’s faith in Jesus Christ and love from his family carried him through his final weeks as he struggled with interstitial lung disease. We are sure that his beloved cat Sparky and dogs who predeceased him, Zoe, Keo, Damian, Henry, Ollie and Bitsy welcomed him home with snuggles and kisses. He will be dearly missed.
Special thanks to the doctors and nurses on unit 3F of the General Hospital for the kindness and special care he received.
A Celebration of Wally’s Life and Interment will be announced at a later date.
For those wishing to do so, in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Regina Humane Society in Wally’s memory.
