Peter was the eldest child and was born June 10, 1938 at Mutrie, Sask. He attended Millersdale, Westlea, and Lipton Schools. He moved to Regina and attended St. Augustus, St. Joseph, and Balfour. He loved music and loved to dance. He played accordion in a band at the age of 14, but realized it was more fun to dance (with the girls) than play the accordion. He worked for Royal Typewriters, Molson’s, and Pioneer Grain in Regina, he was smitten by the land. Peter was transferred to Cupar to operate the Pioneer Grain Elevator. After 3 years at the elevator he decided to take up farming full time. They moved from the Pioneer House to what was fondly called “The Doll House” as it was so small. In 1974 they moved into a new home on Main Street. Peter served as president of Minor Hockey, Memorial Rink, and the Coop Board. He was Trustee on the Cupar School Board. He played senior hockey and coached minor and senior hockey as well as Bantam boy’s fastball. Hockey Night in Canada ans the Saturday Night Dance Party were common occurrences. Peter loved the farm and his animals (horses) and eventually moved out to the farm northeast of Cupar. Trail rides soon became an annual event complete with a covered wagon. Mixed farming became his livelihood right down to milking cows. He moved back to Cupar in 2003 when they sold their farm. Peter’s family extends their heartfelt thanks to Dr. M. Salim of the Allan Blair Centre, Dr. A. Ellwood of the Renal Unit and Palliative Care at the General Hospital and the Regina Qu’Appelle Home Care Staff. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St Patrick’s R.C Church, Cupar, on Thursday, July 27, at 11:00 am. If family and friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made in memory of Peter to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
